At 8-10 weeks, birds are living outdoors, are fully feathered and do not need supplemental heat. They are well socialized and can be introduced to adult chickens. 

 

To learn more about the breeds, check out the Whiting Farms Breed Guide. All birds were hatched at Whiting Farms and raised at Sunshine Mesa Farm from day old chicks. They are vaccinated for Mareks and Infectious Bursal.

 

We highly recommend keeping your pullets on a 20% grower formula until they start laying eggs (typically ~22-28 weeks), then switch to a layer formulation. Switching to a layer formula too early can result in poor growth, smaller egg size, and kidney damage (due to higher levels of calcium in the feed).
