These birds are large and heavy, with flat combs and beautifully mottled feathers. They are well suited to very cold weather. Frequently used as meat birds in the past, but now most are just a colorful and unique flock addition. Some are bearded, others are not. We do find these birds need to be carefully monitored for mites and lice due to their fluffy features, and recommend you treat for pests a few times per year.
