Coturnix Quail are a wonderful, dual purpose bird that can thrive with limited space. A great bird for beginners, these quail are hardy and easy keepers. They lay up to 300 eggs per year, and start laying eggs around 8 weeks old. Males are ideal for processing around 10-12 weeks of age.
 
Quail can be kept in small elevated pens/hutches, but will be happiest in ground pens with some enrichment. They are relatively docile (especially our birds which are started indoors). Broodiness is extremely rare, and they do not make good mothers. They will need artificial lighting to keep laying throughout winter.
 
At 4 - 6 weeks, quail are fully feathered and can live outside. They will start to lay eggs between 6 - 8 weeks of age.
 
Quail come in a rainbow of colors including wild, Italian, calico, blue, and cinnamon. We can't guarantee colors but will give you a variety.
